EPC Visiting the Lutherans on May 30

On Sunday, May 30th, we will be worshipping at Peace Lutheran Church (1744 Walnut St., Lauderdale, MN. 55113) at 10:00 a.m.  Pastor Julie has been asked to preach during their pastor’s sabbatical time.  They are partnering with their pastor during his sabbatical in exploring the themes of "What makes your heart sing?"  Pastor Julie was specifically asked to preach due to her Spiritual Director background.  Session has voted to have joint worship with the congregation of Peace Lutheran that morning.

Peace Church is similar to Edgcumbe in several ways.  They are a small, neighborhood church in the midst of a revival after considering closing their doors.  They are now growing slowly and finding new ways to reach out to their community.  Their former sanctuary was almost identical to Edgcumbe, with a high A-frame roof and bolted-in pews.  They have re-designed their space with re-used pews and new chairs and a labyrinth on their floor.

Directions:
Take Snelling to I-94 west to MN-280 north.
Exit at Larpenteur and turn right.
Take the very first left onto Malvern;
Go one block and turn left on Ione.
When you run into the highway sound wall, you’re there!
From church, the trip should take about 20 minutes.

In Memory of Jim Wilmes

Jim Wilmes served the community of Edgcumbe as the custodian from June of 2003, until June of 2008.  Jim left EPC because of health issues and had hoped to return to his work at EPC, but sadly it didn’t work out that way and those health issues eventually lead to his passing on April 18.  We do rejoice in knowing that Jim is now with our Lord and in the Light that he experienced and shared with others. Jim’s own light and gifts were a blessing to EPC.  He cared deeply for this church, and as a co-worker, he was just as caring and truly a friend. Jim, you will be greatly missed!
